Chris Janssens made some surprising selection choices for the crucial home match against KV Kortrijk. Soufiane Bidaoui, who had just helped the U-23 Moroccan team to qualify for the 2012 Olympics, was given a starting place. He started on the left wing. Claasen, Maric and Grncarov all returned after injury. De Wree took the place of the injured Ayew at right back.

Barely four minutes had elapsed when Oussalah found himself alone in front of Kawashima's goal. The Belgian Moroccan inexplicably fired a golden chance well wide. Lierse had a lot of possession in the early stages, but it was Kortrijk creating the chances. On eighteen minutes Gaxa gave away the ball. Czvitovics had another excellent chance to put the visitors in front, but wasted it. The only threat from Lierse was a shot from Elgabas which was saved comfortably by Van Hout. Kortrijk should have gone in ahead at halftime, but 0-0 at the break.

Five minutes into the second half a free kick for Lierse. Milos Maric floated the ball into the box, Boban Grncarov headed onto to fellow central defender Frédéric Frans. The Lierse youth product fired low into the net: 1-0.

Siboniso Gaxa then picked up an injury and was replaced by Lance Davids. Lierse then began to control the match more. Janssens, in an effort to preserve the lead, brought on Kovacs and Dequevy for Huysegems and Bidaoui.

With five minutes left Lierse countered via Maric. The Serbian played in Daylon Claasen, who beat keeper Van Hout with a deft chip: 2-0.

Kortrijk still didn't let heads drop, but apart from a good header from Veselinovic, failed to create any real danger in front of Kawashima's goal. Lierse had half chances to add a third goal, Grncarov coming the closest. From a metre out, the Macedonian fired over.

But ultimately three very important points for Lierse. They move up one place to 13th after Zulte Waregem's home defeat to Bergen, and are now 5 points above bottom team St Truiden.
