Lierse.com today had a few words with one of this Summers newcomers to our club: Ahmed Samir Farag.

The Egyptian left back is enthousiastic and appears to have assimilated quickly into the group
"I'm happy to have come directly to Lierse and I'll give everything for this club. There are three players here that have already lived in Egypt and they've shown me around. They are also helping me with the language so I think it will be ok."

The difference with training in Egypt is quite big but Ahmed views that positively. "In Egypt it was sometimes too hot to train, here the weather is really perfect. And this also influences the state of the pitches because they are very green, which is very difficult to have back home because it's so dry."

What is immediately apparent when Farag arrived in Lier is that the left back has a good relationship with Hussein Yasser.
"I played at Ismaily when Hussein was at Zamalek. So we played against each other and were friends. I've even already played with Dodo Elgabas with the Egyptian national team. Mo Abdel Wahed - ex-Lierse - is even my best friend in Egypt. Mo always talks to me about Lierse."

So Lierse was not such a step into the unknown for the Egyptian international.
"Last year I saw a lot of matches and I must say that in two years Lierse has made a lot of progress. The coach has just told us that he wants to better the twelfth place of last season by finishing eighth or ninth. The other players and I will do our utmost best to achieve that. You cannot do more than your best."
