The Dutch left footed central defender Arjan Swinkels has signed a two-year contract with Lierse with an option for a further year. The 27-year old Swinkels comes on a free transfer from Willem II. Lierse have been following Swinkels for quite some time. He was recently invited for a tour of the Lierse facilities and talks with Lierse personnel.

Arjan Swinkels: “I immediately had a good feeling about the place. Lierse really showed that they wanted me and were fastest on the ball. I'm already looking forward to the start of the new season. I'm a player that gives always 100% and I plan to do that here as well. I'm a hard worker on the pitch, with a good pass and good heading ability. I want to quickly ensure that I'm worth a starting place in the team, and so can help Lierse to a good season. I know that Lierse is a nice peoples club with loyal supporters. That also attracted me. That and the fact that I can play at a higher level of course. “
