The Lierse board today received the green light from the interim control from the Belgian FA Licence Control Commission. Both President Maged Samy and CEO Jesse De Preter were delighted to receive the news.
According to De Preter an important financial peak had been reached. “Immediately after my appointment in July 2011 I made it clear to the Board of Wadi Degla that the financial stability of the club was my priority. I will admit that we will be reliant at least until May 2013 on financial injections from Egypt. I therefore thank Wadi Degla for the efforts that they continue to make.”
Chairman Maged Samy agrees with De Preter. “I've always been relaxed about it, but as the Licence deadline came closer, the nerves did indeed begin to show. It's been no secret that since the beginning of the Egyptan Revolution, Wadi Degla have found it more and more difficult to transfer money overseas. As a consequence of the restrictions which were imposed by the Egyptian central bank.”
Samy and De Preter view this successfull interim control as confirmation of the trust between K. Lierse S.K. and Wadi Degla. Although thep emphasize that this interim licence control is not the end. In the coming weeks a number of payment plans will have to be agreed with various creditors. The board of the club want to ensure that the definitive controls for the 2012-13 season (which are planned in a few months time), run smoothly.
