Korean Motor Company, the importor if the South Korean car company Hyundai for the Belux, have agreed a sponsorship agreement for the seasons 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 with K. Lierse S.K.

The official handover of the cars took place on Wednesday 23rd November. With this partnership, which also has a potential two year extension period, Hyundai become one of the most important sponsors of  K. Lierse S.K. and the Hyundai logo will also appear on the shirts (or on both sleeves to be exact) of the first team players.

Hyundai delivered no less than 30 cars to the club, for players and board members. The car is he the brand new i40 Wagon, the high tech and trendy premium break model of the brand. In consultation the  club and Hyundai Belux opted for the 1.7 CRDi Blue Drive version. This ecological Blue Drive variant has a number of environmentally friendly features (including a start/stop system) which ensures that the car only produces 113g per km in emissions. That green aspect fits fully into the philosophy of both Hyundai and the club.

William Meerschaut, PR & Communications Manager of Hyundai Belux, believes this collaboration to be a  logical step; ‘Hyundai has been a main-partner of both FIFA World Cup and Euros for some time, and that will remain the case foe some time to come. It therefore speaks for itself that we would want to tie our name to an important first division Belgian club. I am convinced that Lierse, just as Hyundai itself, has a lot of potential and as a new partner we have the utmost faith in the sporting results of the club. K. Lierse S.K. is a real “challenger”, who want to climb higher. Hyundai share this philosophy with the club.’

Jesse De Preter, CEO of Lierse SK is also very satisfied with the new partnership:
‘We're very happy with this agreement with Hyundai. In the first instance it's a sign of faith in our club and the growth potential which Lierse shows. This is a very nice deal, in which both parties can only gain from. Our stories run parallel. Hyundai is currently enjoying an enormous ascent and we're planning the same for Lierse. Such a deal can only be viewed as a win-win situation.’
