Joeri Dequevy has signed a 3-year contract with Lierse.
Lierse also reached agreement with his ex-club Roeselare over the transfer fee payable.
Joeri Dequevy is a 22-year old (27/04/88) attacking midfielder (1m79,76 kg). Decquevy played in the various youth levels at RSC Anderlecht and moved to KSV Roeselare in 2008. He won a place in the first team there, and played 51 matches in the Jupiler (Pro) League and scored 5 goals. He also played twice against Lierse in the 2008-09 play-offs.
Dequevy had a good 2009-2010 season, and as a result was being closely followed by both Anderlecht and Standard. He was close to signing for Standard before the deal fell through late in the day.
Dequevy gave his reaction to lierse.com:
Dequevy: "The negotiations with Lierse really went very fast. I immediately felt good at the club, and felt that they wanted me. After a few rounds of talks the deal was done. I'm happy that I can take the next step in my career with Lierse. Lierse is a club with tradition, with a very nice but ambitious chairman, and with wonderful supporters. I want to finish as high in the league as possible with the club, if I have to predict I would say that we can finish in the top 10. I know the club from the confrontations with them in the 2008-09 play offs. From the players I know Frédéric Frans from the National youth team. I prefer to play on the left flank, in an attacking role behind the strikers."
Dequevy will begin training with the squad on Monday.
