The floods in Pakistan are threatening millions of people. Twenty million, according to the Pakistan government. Unicef, the UN Children fund, says that three million children are in danger because of water related diseases.

It is painful to see that for the moment, too little is being done to help those people. It is too far away, it is a holiday period, it wasn’t a disaster in which thousands of people died instantly: so many reasons that can explain the lack of financial support.

But the world belongs to everyone and everyone has the right to live.

That is why at K. Lierse SK we are taking some initiatives to help, launch and support the aid for Pakistan.

First, all our players and all the people who work at Lierse, will donate a percentage of their monthly wage. On top of that, the club will donate one euro per fan in the stadium at the home game against Kortrijk, next Saturday August 21st. That total amount will be doubled by the Lierse president, mister Maged Samy.

We summon all the football clubs in Belgium and in Europe to take similar initiatives.

In the weekend of 4, 5 and 6 September, there is no regular competition in Belgium. Therefore we want to play a friendly game against a club from the Belgian or European competition. The entire receipts of that match will also be donated to Unicef.
