Today Lierse.com wants to introduce to you a young Belgian talent. Lennert Vanherberghen (22) is a young central defender who has come to Lierse from KVK Tienen.

Lennert comes from playing in the second division to the top flight and the difference between the two is obvious to him.
"The set up is at another level. Everything is more professional. The coaching is sharper and the level at training is much higher."

Vanherberghen didn't know anybody at Lierse personally before his transfer but has encountered many familiar faces.
"Last season I played against Jonas Heymans (then at Wetteren) and Benjamin Lambot (then Antwerp) and the season before that against Thomas Wils when he was at Turnhout.

Lennert Vanherberghen is a central defender but can play in other positions.
"In my youth I was a central midfielder and only last year at Tienen did the trainer put me in central defence. That turned out well and so I stayed there. Apparently Lierse noticed that and now I hope to develop here further in that position. I'm here to learn a lot and am hoping for a chance to play, which I will then definitely grab with both hands."
