Lennert Vanherberghen has signed a contract with Lierse. Vanherberghen has signed a performance related contract for 2 seasons with an option for an additional one season. Vanherberghen is a 22-year old (03/12/1989) central defender who arrives on a free transfer from KVK Tienen.

C.E.O. Jesse De Preter: “With Vanherberghen we've acquired a young talented Belgian. Alongside our own youth players we're scouring the market for young players who are regulars with teams in lower divisions. Vanherberghen fits perfectly in this criteria. Our scouting team have been following him all season and have delivered several positive reports, despite the difficult season for KVK Tienen.  Lennert now gets the chance with us to adapt to a higher level, up to him to grab his chance.”

Lennert Vanherberghen: “I'm greatly honoured to be given a new direction in my career with Lierse. Lierse really want to give chances to youth, so I was immediately charmed by their interest. I shall have to work hard here to up my level, I don't understimate the difference in quality between first and second division. I've finished my studies this Summer so can now concentrate fully on my football career.”

Technisch Directeur Ruud Kaiser: “Lennert is a young Flemish defender with potential. He is a multi functional player with positive points his positional play, tackling and heading ability. He was a regular starter at Tienen, it(s now up to him to show that he can adapt to a higher level.”
