On Saturday evening Lierse drew 2-2 at home to KSK Ronse. The team from East Flanders took an early lead through Kevin De Broyer. Lierse immediately equalised via Mo Wahed. With a superb free kick De Rouck again put the visitors ahead. Second half substitute Thiebaut equalised again for Lierse from the penalty spot.
Radzinski was again absent through injury, and so Elgabas came into the side for the first time since October. Thiebaut was the one to miss out, and started on the bench. Again Dreesen got the preference ahead of Camacho in the centre of defence. Frans was suspended and was replaced in central defence by De Witte. Lierse didn't begin the match particularly well, and lost possession on numerous occasions in the opening minutes. Ronse looked dangerous going forward, and that resulted in an early goal. De Witte lost possession and De Broyer found himself through on Kujovic. A clinical finish: 0-1. At the other end De Witte with a headed effort, the keeper dived to grab the ball on the goalline. A large proportion of both players and spectators believed the ball had crossed the line. Almost immediately afterwards Wahed wormed his way in from the left wing into the area. He went past two players before placing a perfect shot into the bottom left hand corner: 1-1. But Lierse were only level for barely ten minutes. De Rouck leaving Kujovic helpless with a superbly placed free kick into the top left hand corner. Akwetay Mensah picked up an early booking, and trainer Anthuenis decided that it was too risky to keep him on. Ahmed Samir replacing him on 28 minutes. There then followed a great chance for Cavens: De Graef presenting him with a great heading opportunity, but the skipper missed his target. Just before the break, Wahed with a well taken free kick, which was tipped over the bar by the Ronse keeper.
At half time Matthys was replaced by Gunter Thiebaut. The first chance of the second half fell to Lierse: Cavens tried to place his shot into the far corner, but the ball curled past the far post. On the hour mark, Elgabas made way for Kevin Janssens. Ten minutes later Thiebaut found himself unmarked at the far post but his effort was pushed against the bar by the keeper. Lierse had trouble creating clear goalscoring chances, and didn't really look like equalising, until in the 76th minute Janssens fell somewhat easily to ground from a challenge in the corner of the penalty area. Cavens, who had an unhappy match, saw his penalty easily saved by the Ronse keeper diving to his right. The linesman gave Lierse a lifeline by flagging that the keeper had moved from his line too early, and the referee allowed Lierse to retake the spot kick. Cavens passes the duty onto Thiebaut. The striker fired home the retaken penalty. That was to be the final goalmouth action.
Both Bergen and United won their matches, so Lierse end the weekend in 4th place, three points behind leaders United.
