On Saturday evening Lierse won 3-1 at home to Club Luik.

Assistent trainers Eric Van Meir and Chris Janssens were forced to make 3 changes to Wednesday's starting line up. Thiebaut and Nedzipi replacing the injured Radzinski and Wahed. Akwetey Mensah, who was rested, was replaced by Seth De Witte.

For the opposition an old Lierse favourite Sven Vanderjeugt was in goal, and he watched as his team took an early lead, to much space offered by the Lierse defence, and Kinet opened the scoring, 0-1. Lierse somewhat taken aback, but after a quarter of an hour they began to play better. That resulted in 2 goals in 2 minutes, Cavens scoring with the outside of his left foot from an assist from Matthys (1-1), and Thiebaut prodding home from a free kick from the same Matthys (2-1). Before the break a good long range effort from Thiebaut was saved by Vanderjeugt.

In the second half, Lierse dominated, and the victory was never under threat, and it was a matter of time before the third goal came. There were successive good chances for De Graef, De Witte, Nedzipi and Thiebaut, but the decisive strike came in the 70th minute, good run down the left and a perfect layback by Vandooren, and coolly finished off by man of the match Matthys. Lierse could have extended their lead further, but an in form Vanderjeugt and the crossbar prevented that.

Bergen lost at home to Doornik (2-3) and United drew at Waasland (0-0). As a result Lierse climb to 2nd place, 1 point behind leaders United.
