On Sunday afternoon Lierse played a friendly away to K.V.V. Coxyde, who currently lie in mid table in third division. Lierse lost the match 3-1.

Lierse gave a number of triallists a run out, which meant a number of regulars didn't play. Huysegems, Ayew, Saïdi, Kawashima and Bidaoui did a training session.  Claasen, Flavio, Gilberto and Gaxa were absent on international duty.

Triallist Abouna started for Lierse at left back. Newcomer Hairemans started in midfield.

Coxyde were more at home on the artificial surface, and immediately made that apparent through a couple of swift counters. Lierse had their share of possession, but were unable to do much with it. As early as the 7th minute Lierse fell behind, a move down the right, Englebert picked up the ball in space, his shot was saved by Sels, but Hillewaere picked up the loose ball: 1-0. On fifteen minutes another home attack down the right, Englebert again involved in the build up, De Clerq scoring: 2-0. On 23’ a first decent chance for Lierse, Abouna's cross, Sonck climbed high but headed over. On the half hour Lierse were reduced to ten men, after a somewhat over enthusiastic ref gave Davids a second yellow card after words were exchanged between Davids and Ternier. In the 35th minute a long run from Elgabas, he went past 4 opponents, and was then brought down in the penalty area. Dodo picked himself up to convert the penalty himself: 2-1, which was the score at halftime.

Lierse made 5 changes at the break, including triallists Nyason and Diabis. Dequevy, one of the substitutes, immediately had the chance to make it 2-2, but the home keeper saved from close range. In the next ten minutes Sonck 'scored' twice, but both times the goals were ruled out for offside. The second flag looking particularly unjust. On the hour two further changes for Lierse, youngsters Adensaya and Claes replacing Sonck and Maric. Lierse were more in the match, but conceded a penalty in the 65th min, following a foul by Grncarov. Ternier converted the spot kick. In the last 10 mins Lierse had three one on one chances with the home keeper, but Dequevy (twice) and Adesanya failed to convert. At the other end Hillewaere missed a chance for 4-1.

Lierse will stay in Koksijde for a further two days for a mini training camp.
