On Tuesday evening Lierse played a friendly away at Second division Eendracht Aalst. Chris Janssens left out both Claasen and Ayew as a precaution, but otherwise it was a familiar looking Lierse starting eleven.
Lierse took the lead after only 10 minutes. Maric firing a superb free kick into the far corner: 0-1. Aalst responded immediately, Kawashima saving well from a shot from Podevijn. Davids then for Lierse with two good efforts, first one saved well by keeper Kempeneer, the second effort going just wide. On the half hour, Lierse twice came close to doubling their lead. A header from Huysegems looped just over the bar, and straight afterwards a free Elgabas was stopped by an alert Kempeneer. Half time: 0-1.

The home team made several changes at the break, for Lierse only one change: Dequevy replacing Bidaoui. Aalst were the first to threaten, Crispijn firing a volley over. At the other end Maric hesitated for too long when through on the keeper. It was twenty mins from time before the next big chance, substitute Yasser's effort well saved by the keeper. Immediately afterwards a good shot from another sub Sonck, pushed away for a corner by the keeper. In the 75th minute Sonck was sent through, but was brought down by the substitute keeper Verhoven, a clear cut penalty. The ref inexplicably gave Sonck a yellow card for diving. In the 81’ Adesanya found Dequevy free, but he fired wide from a glorious position. In the 82’ Sonck fired in a free kick directly into the net. Adensanya (miss) and Dequevy (post) came close to making it 0-3, but it ended 0-2.
